Jesus Jams for Christmas

December is the most wonder-filled time of winter with the anticipation and event of Christmas. Families gather together to have meals, children wait eagerly to open gifts, and traditions of baking, watching movies, and decorating trees beforehand abound to make the season a special time for many. As the days draw nearer to the 25th, I wanted to pause and take a moment to share some unique songs and refreshing covers of Christmas classics that remind us of the reason for the season: the birth of Jesus Christ over 2,000 years ago.

The First Noel by TobyMac and Owl City – A half pop half rock Christmas tune about the first Christmas. It’s fun, festive, and a nice reminder of the reason we celebrate Christmas.

Neverending Christmas by PEABOD – A cute, clean rap about Christmas and the enduring hope and joy we have in Jesus.

Jesus Christ by The Decemberists – While I will say The Decemberists’s other songs are rarely Christian in content, this band came out with this wonderful song back in 2017, glorifying Christ’s birth.

THE PRESENT by Forrest Frank – A fun half-rap half-song about the eternal, lasting peace and joy we have in Jesus, and the gift of the time we have now.

Hallelujah by Pentatonix and The String Mob – A breathtaking rendition of Hallelujah, and one of Pentatonix’s exceptions to their acapella sound with the inclusion of a string band for this song.

Silent Night by Michael Buble – A rich, soothing rendition of this Christmas classic about the night of Jesus’s birth.

The Prayer by Pentatonix – Following Pentatonix’s typical acapella sound, this stirring song is a prayer for peace, guidance, and faith.

Away in a Manger by Ella Fitzgerald and Bob Norberg – While not a newer cover, this song deserved a shoutout in my opinion for its beauty and soothing vibe.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by The Longest Johns – A potent acapella sea shanty of the English classic, this song is perfect for the naval-enthused Christians.

Merry Christmas everyone!
